On the agenda for the day: Scottish Cultivated Shellfish – Planning for the Future
It’s that time of year once again for the Association of Scottish Shellfish Growers (ASSG) Autumn Conference, taking place on October 1st-2nd, at Corran Halls, Oban.
The event brings together shellfish growers, researchers, and industry partners to share expertise, discuss innovation, and look ahead at opportunities for the sector.
JFC Marine will be in attendance and would be delighted to meet you there. We’ll have our Single Line Rope Mussel Floats and Double Line Rope Mussel Floats on hand.
We’re also happy to discuss marking solutions for aquaculture sites, including the use of Aids to Navigation equipment such as buoys, beacons, and lights. As part of the licensing process, all sites (both new and existing) are required to be clearly marked, and this continues to be a key area of discussion across the sector.
Whether you have questions, new projects in mind, or just want to explore ideas, we’re excited to connect.
Here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect from the sessions:
- The future of Scottish aquaculture, including Dennis Overton on aquaculture’s role in transforming Scotland’s food system.
- Updates from the Roslin Institute on shellfish science, and presentations on consumer engagement, marketing, and collaboration across the industry.
- Discussions on plankton monitoring, the marine microbiome, oyster seed demand, and the Shell-volution programme on mussel cultivation.
If you’re attending the conference, be sure to stop by and say hello. We look forward to linking up with colleagues, customers, and friends alike.
